MPA Student Kevin Mock Travels to White House with Local Youth
Evans School student Kevin Mock accompanied eight youth from Youngstown Records to the invitation-only White House concert "A Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement" on February 9. Youngstown Records is a collaborative after-school program of Arts Corps' MusicianCorps Program and the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center. The concert will air in Seattle on February 11 at 9 p.m. on KCTS9.
Evans School Alumnus Travels to Haiti
David Eller (Executive MPA ‘07), president of World Concern, is traveling to Haiti to to assist staff on the ground providing food and supplies to earthquake surviors. Eller was interviewed by KOMO TV at Sea-Tac Airport on February 4 as he left for Haiti.
UW Still #1 for Peace Corps Volunteers
The University of Washington is number one in producing undergraduate Peace Corps volunteers for the fourth year in a row, and is tied for first place in the number of graduate-level Peace Corps volunteers. Michael Kern to Lead Ruckelshaus Center
Michael Kern, a veteran of managing public policy issues and a graduate of the Evans School of Public Affairs, is the new director of the William D. Ruckelshaus Center, a joint project of the Evans School at the University of Washington and Washington State University Extension. The Ruckelshaus Center provides expertise to improve the quality and availability of voluntary collaborative approaches for policy development and multi-party dispute resolution.
