Brandy asks:

I have tried locating a class profile for students entering the MPA program at the Evans School, but I haven't been able to find one. What type of people are typically admitted to the MPA program? I am about to graduate from a top 10 university.

Efrain responds:

It is difficult to describe the "type of people" that are typically admitted to our MPA program but here is some data:

  • Average GPA of our last class was 3.6 (there is a 3.0 requirement to apply)
  • A typical student has 1 to 3 years of relevant work or service experience
  • Average GRE: quantitative, 650; verbal, 580; analytical 4.5
  • Approximately 55% are Washington state residents, 45% from outside Washington state (including 12% international)
  • 65% female, 35% male
  • 18% underrepresented minorities
  • Students come from a viariety of undergraduate degrees, but the strongest applicants have at least taken economic and/or statistics coursework

People at the Evans School come from everywhere, top 10 universities, big state universities, and small colleges.
