Dissertation Title: Institutional Determinants of Project Outcomes among Forestry-Based Carbon Sequestration Projects in Sub-Saharan Africa

Travis William Reynolds graduated from the Evans School Ph.D. in Public Policy and Management program in 2011. His research interests included international development, agro-forestry, and carbon sequestration.

“Through the doctoral program at the Evans School I met great friends and colleagues, worked with brilliant students and faculty, received the training and support necessary to conduct and publish my own research, and ultimately was able to get my dream job teaching environmental policy at a leading liberal arts college. The Evans School of Public Affairs and the University of Washington offer engaging and interdisciplinary research and teaching opportunities for graduate students, and Seattle is one of the best cities in the country in which to live and work. I could not have hoped for better.”

Prior to starting his doctoral studies at the Evans School, Reynolds worked as a research and teaching assistant from 2005-06 at the University of Vermont. He also served as an agro-forestry volunteer in 2004 for the U.S. Peace Corps in Gurel Ablay Diaw, Senegal, and assistant logistics coordinator in 2000 for TimorAid in Dili, East Timor.

Reynolds holds a Master of Science in Community Development and Applied Economics from the University of Vermont, and a B.A. in international relations and French civilization from Brown University.
