Learning Objectives and Course Work

Nonprofit leaders are confronted with restricted resources, unavoidable change, and increased demand on services. The learning objectives of the institute help you engage in a higher-level of thinking about the purpose and practice of your role as a leader to help you tackle today's challenges and prepare for the future.

Institute sessions are taught within the context of:

  • Thinking strategically
  • Understanding your stakeholders and authorizing environment
  • Enabling and securing support for change
  • Inspiring others to perform
  • Communicating and influencing effectively
  • Fostering collaboration
  • Using financial management in pursuit of strategic objectives
  • Engaging and managing the board of directors

Course work for the Nonprofit Executive Leadership Institute starts approximately five weeks prior to the in-house sessions with reading assignments and the completion of a leadership assessment.

Institute Faculty

Program sessions are led by a combination of academic faculty members and experienced practitioners. They lead intellectually provocative sessions exposing participants to new insights and analytical tools through the use of case studies, peer consulting teams, group exercises, mock presentations, journaling, and presentations from local guest experts.
