Joaquin Herranz Jr. Receives Best Paper Award from EGOS
The
Organizational Network Research Group of the European Group for
Organizational Studies (EGOS) chose a paper by Joaquin Herranz,
Jr. titled "Multisectoral Network Adaptation to Changes in Exogenous Policy and Economic Conditions" as their 2008 Best Paper Award winner. Herranz presented the paper this summer at the organization's annual conference in Amsterdam.New Papers Posted to Evans School Working Papers Series
Two papers by William M. Zumeta and Richard O. Zerbe, Jr. are available on
the Evans School 2008 Working Paper Series website. Zumeta's article is titled "How Much Higher Education Does the Nation Need?" Zerbe's article is titled "Ethical Benefit Cost Analysis as Art and Science: Ten Rules for Benefit-Cost Analysis," and was recently accepted for publication in the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Law and Social Change.Leadership at the Crossroads Debut
Nearly 100 Evans school alumni, students, and friends gathered on October 6 for the Puget Sound Alumni Reception, followed by a presentation by Orin Smith, who served chief policy and finance officer under two Washington State governors before leading the Starbucks Corporation as president and CEO.

Mark C. Long was named the managing editor and co-editor of the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management (JPAM), the pre-eminent journal of public affairs published by the Association for Public Policy and Management.
UW President Elected to National Academy of Public Administration
University of Washington President Mark Emmert has been elected to the National Academy of Public Administration, a nonprofit, independent coalition of top public management and organizational leaders who tackle the nation's most critical and complex challenges.
