A research article by Mark Long and Marta Tienda of Princeton University titled "Winners and Losers: Changes in Texas University Admissions Post-Hopwood" is cited in an amicus brief (181 KB PDF) prepared by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Legal Defense and Education Fund for the U.S. District Court of the Western District of Texas case Abigail Noel Fisher and Rachel Multer Michalewicz v. State of Texas, et al. The case is challenging the consideration of race and ethnicity in undergraduate admissions to the University of Texas. The same article also received the Palmer O. Johnson Award from the American Education Research Association (AERA) for the highest quality of academic scholarship published during 2008 in one of four AERA journals.
