William M. Zumeta Aids Washington State House Committee on Higher Education
After giving testimony on "Why Does Higher Education Cost So Much?" to the Washington State House Committee on Higher Education on January 16, Professor William M. Zumeta is now continuing to aid the committee in developing and considering options for keeping public higher education affordable while preserving the quality and competitiveness of institutions in the face of likely deep cuts in state appropriations.Stephen Page and Alumna Denise Rodriguez Receive Case Writing Honors

The Benefit-Cost Analysis Center, with principal investigator Richard O. Zerbe, Jr., received a $600,000 core renewal grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.Ph.D. Students, Pirog Published in JPAM
Evans School Ph.D. students Anne Buffardi, Colleen Chrisinger, Pradeep Singh, and John Briney, along with visiting professor Maureen Priog, had an article published in the winter 2009 volume of the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management (JPAM). The article [PDF], titled "Are the Alternatives to Randomized Assignment Nearly as Good? Statistical Corrections to Nonrandomized Evaluations," was part of a Point/Counterpoint debate.
Craig Thomas Officially Begins JPART Editorship
Craig Thomas has officially begun his duties as editor of the Journal of Public Administration and Theory (JPART). JPART, the top-ranked journal of public affairs, is now officially housed at the Evans School. Ph.D. student Travis William Reynolds will serve as editorial assistant for the journal.
