Benefit-Cost Analysis Center Receives Kudos from MacArthur Foundation
Michael A. Stegman, director of policy and housing at The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, wrote a congratulatory letter to Richard O. Zerbe Jr. on the work he and his colleagues have done in establishing the Benefit-Cost Analysis Center. “It was the solid foundation you laid for the center that encouraged me to recommend continued funding for the next three years,” Stegman wrote. “I look forward to working with you and your colleagues on the many projects that are underway on the upcoming benefit-cost conference this fall.”Mark Long Research Cited in U.S. District Court Brief and Receives Award
A research article by Mark Long and Marta Tienda of Princeton University titled "Winners and Losers: Changes in Texas University Admissions Post-Hopwood" is cited in an amicus brief (181 KB PDF) prepared by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Legal Defense and Education Fund for the U.S. District Court of the Western District of Texas case Abigail Noel Fisher and Rachel Multer Michalewicz v. State of Texas, et al. The case is challenging the consideration of race and ethnicity in undergraduate admissions to the University of Texas. The same article also received the Palmer O. Johnson Award from the American Education Research Association (AERA) for the highest quality of academic scholarship published during 2008 in one of four AERA journals.HSPC Receives $425,000 Grant
The Human Services Policy Center with principal investigator Richard Brandon received a $425,000 grant from the Washington State Department of Early Learning to help the them learn how to effectively implement a Quality Rating and Improvement System.
Alison Cullen Paper Receives Top 10 Award from Society of Toxicology
A paper by Alison Cullen titled “The Application of Genetic Information for Regulatory Standard Setting Under the Clean Air Act: Decision-Analytic Approach” received an award from the Society of Toxicology for being one of the top ten publications demonstrating an application of risk assessment in 2008.Two Books by Leslie K. Breitner to be Published by Prentice Hall
Leslie K. Breitner is the co-author of two books with the late Robert N. Anthony that are set for publication through Prentice Hall. Ph.D. student Yuta Masuda is the co-author of an article titled “Psychiatric Disorders and the Labor Market: An Analysis by Psychiatric Profiles” that was recently published in the Journal of Mental Health Policy and Economics. Co-authors of the article include A.J. Cowell and Luo Zhehui.
