International Honors for Recent Grad and Current Student

Michaela Leslie-RuleAfter the premiere of her short film, "Wanawake 8/8 Women," at the Zanzibar Film Festival, Michaela Leslie-Rule (MPA '10), traveled to the XVIII International AIDS Conference in Vienna, Austria to present the research that accompanied the film, "The language of love: Tanzanian women define intimacy, sexuality and violence in the 21st century."  At the conference, she was one of seven scholars chosen to receive a Young Investigator Award from the International AIDS Society and the Agence Nationale de Recherche sur le SIDA (ANRS), given to researchers under the age of 35 who demonstrate innovation, originality, rationale, and quality in the field of HIV and AIDS research.  Learn more about Leslie-Rule and her work in University Week

Suzanne SimburgStudent Suzanne Simburg was recently chosen for a Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarship; she is one of 1,500 U.S. citizens who will study abroad for the 2010-2011 academic year.  Simburg, who is earning a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree concurrently with a Master of Business Administration (MBA), will work for New Ventures, Mexico, consulting for small and medium sized businesses, with a focus on those that contribute to a more environmentally sustainable model of economic growth, while taking MBA classes at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) at night.  Simburg hopes to work on her Evans School degree project while in Mexico and said she's "especially excited to meet new people, improve my salsa dancing, and eat Mexican food!"
