Dean Sandra O. Archibald Selected for Governor’s Committee on Transforming Washington’s Budget
Evans School Dean and Professor Sandra O. Archibald was named as one of nearly three dozen leaders invited to serve on Governor Christine Gregoire’s Committee on Transforming Washington’s Budget. The committee will serve in an advisory capacity to the governor and will help conduct executive budget hearings to involve the public in the budget process. The committee’s specific charge is to question budget assumptions, serve as a sounding board, and lend guidance. In 2007 Michaela Leslie-Rule stepped into the UW Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Master of Public Health degree programs with an extensive background as a performance artist. She now graduates with more to add to her list of artistic accomplishments. Her film Wanawake 8/8 Women, completed as part of her thesis research in Tanzania, will make its way to a world premiere debut at the Zanzibar International Film Festival July 16. She will present her research at the XVIII International AIDS Conference in Vienna July 21. Read more in University Week
General Peter W. Chiarelli (MPA '80), Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, Keynotes Evans School Convocation
The Evans School's 2010 Convocation Ceremony, held Friday, June 11, featured a keynote address from General Peter W. Chiarelli (MPA '80). Chiarelli is the 32nd Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Army, where he is responsible for the day-to-day administration of this 1.1 million-person organization.Ken Smith Joins the Evans School as Senior Lecturer
Dean Sandra O. Archibald announced this week that Ken Smith has accepted an offer to join the Evans School as a senior lecturer this fall. Smith is assistant professor of accounting and information science at Atkinson Graduate School of Management at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.
