- The Guide to Starting a Nonprofit (175 KB PDF) by the Executive Service Corps of Washington describes the steps you should take to getting started and includes many links on topics such as: board development, nonprofit finances, business and strategic planning, and other topics important to making nonprofits successful.

- HR.BLR.com: Includes an extensive human resources (HR) toolbox including sample forms and state-specific laws outlining policies
- The Human Resource Planning Society: Provides good strategic human resources information for any organization with content organized around the five key knowledge areas of HR strategy and planning, leadership development, talent management, organizational effectiveness, and building a strategic HR function=
- Society for Human Resource Development: Offers some free online resources from the world’s largest association devoted to HR management, but requires a fee for membership for access to most of the resources. However, under "Tools" there is a good section with samples of job descriptions, policies, HR forms, and mission statements. (The local Seattle chapter of this organization is the Lake Washington Human Resource Association.)
- Workforce Management: Covers pretty much every HR topic you can imagine and is a virtual treasure trove of practical information and experience
- Human Resource Executive Online: Features articles about current HR news and issues with information organized into the three categories of staffing, benefits, and training
