Dear Incoming Students:
Welcome to the Evans School community! We want to congratulate you on your admittance to the Evans School and wish you luck in your journey through graduate school.
We are excited for you to join a community of diverse, passionate, and enthusiastic students here at the Evans School—people from all walks of life who are just as dedicated and concerned about public issues as you are. Your time at the Evans School will provide you with an education to support and enrich your future as well as the future of our global community. You are a part of something worthwhile, meaningful, and important.
The Evans School Student Organization (ESO) brings the Evans School community—students, staff, and faculty—together through creative, fun, and public-value-enhancing events.
Our mission is to provide quality support to all the students, serve as your liaison to the Evans School administration, and strengthen the bonds that are the foundation of the Evans School community.
Inclusiveness, pluralism, and acceptance are of prime importance at the Evans School. This is a place where our differences in race, nationality, religion, gender, sexuality, political beliefs, etc. are all held in esteem. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and respected among the Evans School community.
We want you to get involved in the way that makes sense for you and for you to get the most out of your time here. For a time this school is ours and it is our responsibility to be good (if not the best) versions of ourselves while we are here. A few things to think about for this coming September:
- Meet your fellow classmates! During orientation, ESO will host several events for you to meet other members of the Evans community. We hope you will join us! Details will be provided as the school year approaches.
- Become an ESO officer! We encourage you to run for office to support your fellow classmates and gain practical leadership skills in the process. Several positions for 1st year students to participate in ESO will be available in the fall, including:
- 1st year representative (two positions available)
- Secretary
- 1st year Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) representative
- Join a Student Interest Group! Student Interest Groups (SIGs) are an excellent way to make connections with classmates that share your interests. The SIGs will host events at orientation as well. Learn more about the SIGs.
If you have any questions about the program, classes, or professors, or if you just need help transitioning to Seattle, feel free to contact us at the email addresses below. On behalf of the Evans School community, we look forward to meeting you and having you with us in Parrington Hall!
Sincerely,
